Artist
I have been an active artist since 2005, creating my work in Melbourne, FL and Saratoga Springs, NY.
Art sharpens my world-view through the creation of physical objects that inform my understanding. Science provides the context, while the emerging design provides the insight. The concepts/stories I depict are critical to our perception of the world.
These concepts can’t be seen due to their deep nature and span over time. I attempt to visualize and bring the concepts to life through the magic of art. The art takes on the spirit of the story and becomes a tangible representation of the concept. Each piece is an original one-of-kind representation of the story.
I use exotic and native solid woods and natural elements such as rocks, branches, and shells as well as manufactured elements. Each piece usually combines the natural grains, colors, and textures of 7 or more woods that are used like paint – through the careful choice of natural wood colors and the orientation of the grain.
I capture these stories in 2 and 3 dimensions, including pictures, sculptures and mobiles. The work blends cubist, impressionist, and realist elements, as appropriate, to capture the essence of story.
Because of the strong intellectual content, I provide a short narrative orientation of each piece to help the viewer visualize the conceptual elements depicted.
I produce original works of art and also do commissions.
My work is on display at the Berger Gallery in Saratoga Springs, New York.
